Women in the Military: Breaking Barriers

In partnership with the NYU Women's Initiative, we are bringing our annual Women in the Military Panel to a virtual platform. This year's theme will be "Breaking Barriers". The event will consist of panelists from every branch of the sea services, and seeks to give civilians a glimpse into what service means to women in today’s military, their personal experiences and opportunities they have forged.

This year’s moderator is CWO4 Christine Glynn, USMC (Ret.), who broke barriers early in her USMC career as one of the first females selected for Marine Helicopter Squadron (HMX-1) in Quantico, Virginia as a Presidential Security Guard. After more than 26 years of active duty service, CWO4 Glynn is still serving. She currently works as a Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (MCJROTC) Department Head and Senior Marine Instructor at the only MCJROTC on Long Island and the only MCJROTC with a female instructor team. She also serves as the Chairperson for the Suffolk County Legislators Women Veterans Advisory board, Northwell Health Women Veterans Health Initiative board, National Women Marines Association Working Group and Rebranding Task Force, and the Vice-President and Treasurer of the Women Marines Association Long Island Chapter, and is the proud parent of Kyle and Morgan.
