Our 2017 briefings will resume on Thursday, October 5 at 7:45 A.M. at The Cornell Club. RADM Steven D. Poulin, USCG, Commander, First Coast Guard District, will kick off the fall half of the series with a discussion of The United States Coast Guard — Always There When It Counts Most. $25 includes the discussion and continental breakfast.

The United States Coast Guard, our oldest continuous seagoing service, is a unique force with both military and civil responsibilities. Rear Admiral Steven D. Poulin, Commander, First Coast Guard District, USCG, will discuss the Service’s multiple authorities and capabilities with particular emphasis on current operations around the country and around the world.

Coast Guard members from various parts of the country have been deployed recently in support of the rescue and recovery efforts caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The Coast Guard’s efforts in the wake of these catastrophic storms highlighted the Service’s outstanding response capabilities, and showcased the incredible courage and disciplined training of the members who make up today’s Coast Guard.

From a broader perspective, RADM Poulin will also discuss how the Coast Guard continues to recapitalize its aging cutter fleet, including very prominently, the introduction and accomplishments of the new National Security Cutters currently at sea, and will discuss how the Service has effectively operated with many assets in use well past their intended service life. Please join RADM Poulin and your fellow Navy League members and friends for this timely presentation.
