Sea Perch

Naval Sea Cadets, Seattle Division

2015 Sea Perch Regional Competition

Sea Perch is an adjunct to the STEM program that develops skills for students interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The students compete in teams to build underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle's (ROV) from a kit comprised of low-cost, easily accessible parts, following a curriculum that teaches basic engineering and science concepts with a marine engineering theme. Students must also create a communication post detailing the team's information and graphic expertise. The goal of the program is to increase the number of U.S. engineers and to maintain the Navy’s Science and Technology superiority.

On March 29, 2015, the New York Council supported the SeaPerch regional competition at the Aquatic Center in Queens, NY. Our Executive Secretary, George Simpson helped present awards to the winning teams.
